About Chris & Steve

Having been brought up in a boating family, bags were an integral part of my life and they hauled everything from weekend cargo to weekly groceries. I left college in 1968 to start Accessories Unlimited of Maine also known as "The Bag Lady", where I designed luggage and handbags for Pappagallo, L.L. Bean, Martha Stewart, Laura Ashley, Ralph Lauren, and many others. Steve joined the company after many years in the nuclear business to run the factory and the office of my business.

The year 1994 highlighted me and my business by personally receiving the SBA Business Person of the Year Award as well as several other awards for innovative business practices.

After selling my soft luggage design and manufacturing business in 2004, we decided to winter in Florida. Moving to Florida took 3 weeks of packing and hauling of our furniture and "retirement" to get there. Once we settled in to our new place, we opened a retail store in Punta Gorda, Florida. It took five successful years business before we moved to a larger store in Englewood, a sleepy fishing village west of Charlotte Harbor and Lemon Bay.

Steve's current role uses his keen ability to buy interesting goods for the store such as vintage lamps, artwork and smalls. He also entertains customers with fine conversation while Chris buys lines of classic, casual clothing, and accessories, much of which you do not see other places. We pride ourselves in having interesting, fun merchandise that is always fresh and new.
